چکیده
Fluid flow in a dual permeable medium (DPM) is essential solute transport mining and aquifer studies. In this paper, water flushing into contaminated DPM containing fine-grained lenses with different geometries was investigated the Lattice Boltzmann Method (LBM). The LBM model used study D2Q9 relaxation time of 1, cohesion value 3 for fluid density 1 (mu.Lu-3). saturated contaminant that usually stays low after flushing, it leaked porous by second (water). This phenomenon predominant when displacing has lower concentration than fluid. Diffusion advection are main mechanisms control medium. results simulations showed: (1) controlled through phase, back-diffusion occurred change phase; (2) lenses’ geometry influenced pattern remediation process. As result, strategies based on their permeability can help us select appropriate environmental protection.

This paper deals with the numerical solution of a class of reaction diffusion equations arises from ecological phenomena. When two species are introduced into unoccupied habitat, they can spread across the environment as two travelling waves with the wave of the faster reproducer moving ahead of the slower. The mathematical modelling of invasions of species in more complex settings that include ...
متن کاملOptimizing remediation of an unconfined aquifer using a hybrid algorithm.
We present a novel hybrid algorithm, integrating a genetic algorithm (GA) and constrained differential dynamic programming (CDDP), to achieve remediation planning for an unconfined aquifer. The objective function includes both fixed and dynamic operation costs. GA determines the primary structure of the proposed algorithm, and a chromosome therein implemented by a series of binary digits repres...
متن کاملPrediction of Remediation of a Heterogeneous Aquifer: A Case Study.
Contaminant plumes whose characteristic length is smaller than the horizontal integral scale of the hydraulic conductivity, K, are abundant in shallow, phreatic aquifers. In such cases, the aquifer can be regarded as layered, with K being only a function of the vertical coordinate. The heterogeneity of K has a critical role upon the efficiency of remediation of such sites, for example, by Pump ...
متن کاملUsing slow-release permanganate candles to remove TCE from a low permeable aquifer at a former landfill.
Past disposal of industrial solvents into unregulated landfills is a significant source of groundwater contamination. In 2009, we began investigating a former unregulated landfill with known trichloroethene (TCE) contamination. Our objective was to pinpoint the location of the plume and treat the TCE using in situ chemical oxidation (ISCO). We accomplished this by using electrical resistivity i...
